What you need to know

Student route visa

If you are a non-UK student studying a full-time course longer than six months, you will normally need a Student Route visa. You can apply once you receive your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from Ludlow. The visa allows you to live and study in the UK for the duration of your course, with limited work rights during term time.

When and how to apply

You can apply for your visa up to six months before your course start date if applying from outside the UK. Applications are made online through the UK government website. You’ll need to attend a visa application centre in your home country to provide biometrics and supporting documents.

Financial evidence

You must show that you have enough money to pay your tuition fees and living costs while studying in the UK. This includes recent bank statements or sponsorship letters. The UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) website outlines current financial requirements, and our support team can check your documents before submission.

Health surcharge and insurance

As part of your visa application, you’ll need to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS). This allows you to access the National Health Service (NHS) during your time in the UK. You may also choose to take out additional private health or travel insurance.

After you arrive

Once in the UK, you’ll need to collect your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) within 10 days of arrival. You must also register your address with the university and keep your visa and passport up to date. Our visa and immigration advisors can help with extensions, compliance, and any questions you may have during your studies.
